The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that a 22-year-old soldier was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. The soldier was accompanying archaeologist Ziv Ehrlich, who was conducting work at an archaeological site. The two were under the leadership of Golani Brigade Chief of Staff Colonel Yoav Yerm when Hezbollah fighters ambushed them. The attack killed Ehrlich and one soldier, leaving another Golani Brigade officer critically injured. The IDF described the incident as highly serious and stated that a thorough investigation is underway.

In another tragic event, 22-year-old Israeli Sergeant Eitan Ben Ami died during an operation in a southern Lebanese village. The IDF reported that the sergeant was walking through a damaged building with fellow commandos when the structure collapsed, leading to his death. The building had previously been damaged by Israeli airstrikes and deteriorated further due to weather conditions. Another soldier was injured in the collapse and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
